In 1990, Na Pu´uwai was awarded a grant and established the Na Pu´uwai Native Hawaiian Health Care System.
Under the federal Native Hawaiian Health Care Act of 1988, Na Pu´uwai accepted the responsibility to spearhead the planning for a Native Hawaiian Health Care System for the Island of Molokai and Lanai.
Na Pu´uwai has developed a healthcare system for Molokai and Lanai that offers the following services:
Dental Education for Elementary School children Cancer Awareness Education and Prevention Promotion of the traditional Hawaiian Diet/Healing Practices Healthy Nutrition Educational Classes HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Asthma Education and Management Fit for Life Women's Health Education, Breast/Cervical Screening Clinics Tobacco and Smoking Awareness Diabetes Education and Prevention Cardiovascular Risk Disease Education, Cardiovascular Risk Clinic Screening (CRC) CPR Education and Training Center Hearing and Screening for Elementary School Children Podiatry Evaluation and Education Rural/Health Outreach Grant Program
